As all Technical manuals this Nikon D90 Manual is pretty dense and not too practical, for the beginners I would recommend Nikon D90 for dummies, I know that it sounds bad and basic, but this book achieves what the official manual doesn’t which is to give the beginner a pretty thorough understanding of the capabilities of the camera and at the end of the day how to get the best photos and videos out of the Nikon D90, you can buy it here.

For the more advanced users there are two books that I would recommend:

The first one is David Busch’s Nikon D90 Guide to Digital SLR Photography,

This recently published manual is full of usefull tips and tricks on how to get the best our of the Nikoon D90 if you are an avid user of this camera this manual is a must! you can purchase it here. This 392 will make you an expert of most of Nikon D90 features and your photographing skills will improve as you pace through the pages of this manual.

At only $20 aprox this is one of the best camera manuals ever written.

The second one is Magic Lantern Guides: Nikon D90

As all Magic Lantern Guides, these people are professionals and they know what an amateur photographer is looking for when purchasing a manual.

written in a clear style but it has lots of tricks that help find your way around the camera It also has cool stuff like photos of the D90 while being built at the factory and also a thorough in depth explanation of layers in and around the sensor. You can also find some photos to inspire your creativity.

I own these three books and I go back to all of them every once in a while since the information they provide is unique and destined to different levels of knowledge.

The Nikon D90 is one of the most powerful semi-professionals DLR, the first one of its kind to be able to record video. Some people have taken this feature to a new level creating amazing short videos thatthey have later put on Youtube.

4. Henkell Spot by SlowPhoto

A TV video spot for Henkell directed by Martín Crespo shot entirely with the Nikon D90 with superb quality

5. Heineken “Keep The Change”

Anbother TV commercial, this time shot by Akira Wing entirely with the Nikon D90 in HD, edited with the program Sony vegas 8 and afterwards color corrected with Magic Bullet.

6. Vengeance Rides a Train – By Akira Wing

This one cames in episodes and this is the first episode, shot entirely with the Nikon D90 and then edited by Sony Vegas 9, the color was corrected with Magic Bullet. Music composed by Akira Wing in Cakewalk Sonar

7, 8, 9. Downtown Story Part I, II and III by Emoonu

Beautifully shot nice short film that comes in three episodes shot entirely with the Nikon D90 by a 23 year old student for his thesis. This must be one of the most beautifully shot videos done with the Nikon D90 the guy is that did the is very skilled though there is very little information about him, who knows maybe we’ll know more of him in the future.

10. Klub Terytorium krótki by Philigphilig

This looks like a publicity video for a club in Poland, I incuded it in this list to show that the capabilities of the video in the Nikon D90 go beyong short films to more funky style videos

the D90 as a possible successor to the D80 was a rumor in the air. They have had to spend two years before the Nikon D90 is a reality. From the first moment we had our hands on the Nikon D90, we had to find the differences in design. There have been minor adjustments in this area with more clear and sharp curves, confirming that no doubt is the new Nikon digital SLR. Naturally, the main changes are inside the camera. Here, Nikon has changed many things for the Nikon D90 can connect with the new range of digital SLR brand with the D300, D700 and D3.

Nikon D90 Digital SLR Camera 12.3 Megapixels

First, we have a different image sensor. While the Nikon D80 had a 10.2 Megapixel CCD sensor, the Nikon D90 incorporates 12.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor for new development. This is an important fact, since Nikon says that in combination with the Nikon EXPEED processor, this sensor can provide some benefits in high ISO at the D300. In addition, the monitor on the back has been renewed. Along with the vast improvement in size to 3 inches instead of 2.4, the quality up to VGA resolution improved significantly improves the reproduction of the LCD.

Live View is integrated into the Nikon D90

Naturally, we have at our disposal the Live View function, a feature until recently unthinkable in a digital SLR, which has now become indispensable. Nikon has taken a step in the integration of Live View, and has implemented a way that could become a standard for future generations of digital SLR cameras, video mode. For purists, it is a heresy, however. There is no brake on the process of innovation. This mode makes the Nikon D90 digital SLR in the world’s first to offer the ability to capture videos as 720p HDTV. The only lasted a short time, responded quickly with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

In short, the Nikon D90 is equipped with the latest technology, combined with innovations from the higher segment of Nikon. However, the D90 is not market-oriented semipro but amateur market. The handling of the Nikon D90 has become so simple as possible to ensure that beginners or photographers not too experienced to work with the camera and its menus quickly and effortlessly. We were able to use and test the camera in practice and in addition, the Nikon D90 has been tested extensively at the technical level in our DIWA Lab Both tests are in the review of the Nikon D90.

It seems that the long awaited fixes and new features will have to wait for some time.

Meanwhile the Nikon D90 was named one of the Top Gadgets of 2008 by Time magazine. Time magazine compiles every year of the 50 best gadgets released throughout the year and Nikon D90 SLR is one of them!!!

Although there’s nothing that done about the Jello Video thing, sorry to hear about that but It’s a hardware problem, that will stay be there even in the next couple of generations of SLR with video capabilities.

As you can see this new Firmware for the Nikon D90 doesn’t improve things a whole lot but a new firmware release so soon after the release shows that Nikon is taking care of the Nikon D90 owners.

The main new feature, and at the same time an update regarding the previous model, the Nikon d3x’s sensor’s resolution goes up to 24.5 megapixels in full format, standing just where  the Sony A900 is. It is a perfect model for those jobs that we need a great image resolution than other factors. In fact, it does not incorporate any sensor automatic cleaning system, for example. The price of this new high-end DSLR will be close to 7,000 euros.

The new Nikon D3X

About Nikon D3X sensitivity: the Nikon d3x cannot boast of values out of the ordinary, but the company has decided to ensure at a range between 100 and 1600 ISO that the user is able to choose from other values of 50, 3200 and 6400 in a forced mode. And if we talk about speed when taking photos with this new model the user can take up to 5 frames per second when opted for Nikon DX lenses, or up to 7 fps if you put a DX lens that crops the image and reduces their resolution to 10 megapixels. The auto focus system is 51 points.

The display of the Nikon d3x is still 3 inches and comes with Live View system that uses two methods of approach, by contrast, and by lifting the mirror.

The possibilities of the camera with extras are numerous, but we should highlight the WiFi or GPS module, which would leave us control approach and shooting without cables from a computer. What we miss is the possibility of recording high-definition video, but that’s not what professional DLSRs are for, arent they?
